We are very lucky to have our own woodland on site where we run weekly Forest School sessions. 

Every child in the school will get the opportunity to spend a term a year in the forest, the time of which changes for each year group so that by then end of their time at Newington the children would have experienced and appreciated the forest throughout the seasons.

The independence and freedom that Forest School allows for children to explore their own interests and take responsibility for their learning, as well as the ability to allow adults to facilitate rich learning is something that we strive to encourage. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.

The forest area is also used throughout the year both by classes and clubs.
