On Monday 17th October 2016, year 6 children visited the Houses of Parliament. 25 children and 6 adults took the train from Newington Station at 9.19 to arrive at London Victoria at approximately 10:30am.
The children walked from London Victoria station to the Houses of Parliament and took in the sights along the way. The children had a tour of Parliament which took about an hour. This was a great opportunity to see both chambers, Westminster Hall and many other areas of Parliament. The children then had a workshop about democracy and also saw a film clip about the suffragettes. The visit finished with our local MP, Gordon Henderson, visiting the children and answering their questions.
We arrived back at Newington station at 4:40pm. It was a very busy but worthwhile day.
